Session player Ian Hornbeck makes another appearance on this track, and turns in probably the coolest bass part on Hybrid Theory in the process. First of all, I THINK the verses are played fingerstyle, while the rest of the song is played with a pick. Watch out for the end of the second rap chorus, it's different than the first and third ones. There are also a few variations in the main chorus to watch out for, and there's one variation in the second line of the second verse as well. There's a note at the third fret on the A string that's in parentheses at the end of every repeat of the chorus riff - I don't think that note is ever intentionally played, but it tends to ring out as the position shift back up to the 5th fret happens sometimes. It's louder sometimes than it is others, so I just stuck it in parentheses on every repeat for simplicity's sake. Watch out for the hammer-on that happens during the transition from the first chorus to the post-chorus, it's easy to overlook since it happens across two staves. The start of the bridge is palm muted, and it has a few variations scattered throughout it (watch out for the really cool root-fifth-octave stuff that happens during the last line of the bridge, it's my favorite part of the song!). Definitely a song worth learning on bass, you don't see melodic playing like this in a lot of Linkin Park stuff unfortunately.
