Phoenix uses a 5-string on this song, which is kind of unusual in that it's a song that doesn't really require one! The lowest note in this song is only a D, so you'd expect him to use his regular 4-string in Db Ab Db Gb tuning on this one, but since the song is in the key of E and uses a few open strings, it's actually much easier to play it in standard on a 5-string. If this was a song from Minutes to Midnight or later, Phoenix would have probably just used a 4-string in DADG tuning for this one, but during the Meteora era, LP was tuning down half a step for all of the songs that used a 4-string bass, so playing it on a 5-string kept things much simpler, especially for live performances...but enough rambling about tunings! This song is really simple, it's basically just a bunch of long sustained notes (I haven't used the usual "~" symbols on this one for that reason), without much in the way of variation to throw you off. Just watch out for the pause before the second chorus (the "(x)" notation just marks where to cut off the sound, it's not a "played" muted string), and for how Phoenix plays the A notes in the bridge at the 5th fret on the E string as opposed to playing them open like he does elsewhere.
