Guitar 1 plays the song's main instrumental hook, which appears in numerous spots throughout the track. Guitar 2 plays a repetitive, muted G harmonic throughout the verses, pre-chorus, and outro - "heavily dampened" refers to the necessary fretting-hand muting that you'll need to do to get the sound right (it has a full-sounding pick attack, so palm muting won't work in this situation).
