Brad plays this song without a pick, oddly enough. If you watch the Meeting of A Thousand Suns clip where the band is recording this song, you can see that he's strumming with his thumb. As far as playing goes, it's basically just four chords - G, D, Em7, and Cadd9, although Brad doesn't play the high E string at all for some reason. Other than that, very easy stuff, but to get the right feel, you should do your best to emphasize the bass side strings on downstrokes, and the treble side strings on upstrokes. There are a few spots where Brad varies the strumming pattern slightly or throws in some soft ghost notes (which are notated in parentheses), and I've also put the open A string in parentheses for all of the D chords, as it can often be heard ringing out in addition to the D, G, and B strings.
