Guitar 1 plays the interlude between the first chorus and second verse, the delay makes it sound like Guitar 1 is playing sixteenth notes but it actually just plays straight eighths. Guitar 2 is the lead guitar that enters during the breakdown and plays for the rest of the song. Just like the lead guitar on Burning in the Skies, it has a flanger that's only applied to the delayed signal. Guitars 3 and 4 are double-tracked and play the rhythm part beginning with the bridge, as well as a feedback fade-in right beforehand. Guitar 5 is WAY in the background towards the end of the song, it plays single notes with an EBow. It's most easy to notice during the outro after all the other guitars drop out but it actually plays from the bridge onwards. A couple big notes on this one, Guitar 2 plays a lot of 3-note chords on the album version, but Brad plays that whole part as 2-note intervals live (he omits the bottom note of the 3-note chords). Note that the last thing Guitar 2 plays at the end of the song is only a 2-note interval, though. Guitars 3 and 4 also oddly end the song on an A5 powerchord played on the D and G strings, even though the rest of their part is all on the A and D strings.
