The guitar on this track is pretty far back in the mix, but thankfully it's a lot easier to pick out on the live version. The majority of this song is in 9/8 time, which is further complicated by the fact that there are a few spots where the song goes back to regular 4/4 time for a couple measures. That's why the staves in this tab vary in length (the song is in 9/8 when the guitar comes in, but it ends in 4/4). This song is also in standard tuning - Brad added another Strat to his live rig on the A Thousand Suns tour just for this song! Watch out for the weird chord that ends the song, it's an A-G-A-B interval from low to high (the open G is lower than the fretted A note on the D string - the chord itself is basically an A7sus2 with no fifth...the underlying tonality is minor but the sus2 on top kind of makes the dominant 7th vs. minor 7th notation irrelevant as it pertains to the guitar voicing) played by fretting an A octave at the 5th and 7th frets and letting the open G and B strings ring out on top. Brad plays this using a slightly different shape on the live version (5th fret on E, muted A, 9th fret on D, open G), but Mike recorded the majority of the guitar on this album, hence the slight difference in phrasing.
