New year, new update, and a lengthy one at that!
First of all, I've finished the very emotionally-exhausting task of updating Chester's page, and his page actually saw more updates than Brad or Mike's did, with no fewer than SEVEN new instruments making appearances:
-Chester can briefly be seen playing Mike's Pignose PGG-200 guitar in Mike's home studio on the Making of Meteora DVD.
-The photo I've had on Mike's page for his jumbo Takamine EF250SMC is a picture of Chester with the guitar...why I never added it to Chester's page is beyond me, but it's there now!
-Chester acquired a Vox Ukelectric with a one-of-a-kind finish in Japan in 2013, and there's an LPUTV episode about it ("Electric Ukulele").
-Stone Temple Pilots posted a backstage photo of Chester with one of Dean's Les Pauls in an Instagram tribute post earlier this year.
-Chester hilariously "played" a Music Man SUB 5 bass briefly for one of the joke songs he and Mike filmed for their guest appearance on Rhett and Link's Good Mythical Morning series.
-While visiting the D'Angelico factory earlier this year, Chester's friend Rene Mata took pictures/footage of him playing numerous D'Angelico guitars, including a couple of the DC models he ended up playing on tour later on, as well as two acoustic guitars that I previously didn't have on the site.
Chester's page also saw numerous updates to existing guitars as well:
-I added a backstage photo of Chester with Brad's blue CE 24 from the 2000-2001 period, which resulted in that guitar now being the first guitar on his page, despite him not actually playing it on stage until 2011!
-Similarly, the black Takamine acoustic Chester used for a one-off performance of The Messenger at a radio station in 2013 is actually a guitar he's had since 2001, as it can be seen on his old MTV Cribs episode that was filmed during that era! This is now the second guitar on his page, and I've corrected the guitar's model number as well (it's an EF341C).
-After closer examination, I've realized that the Les Paul Chester played with Bucket of Weenies is actually a regular Tobacco Sunburst Standard, there's no custom artwork on it like I originally thought.
-I moved the entries for the two Dean guitars Chester painted for art exhibits/charity auctions to be in chronological order with everything else on the page, as opposed to having them at the very end like I did before.
-The "half-reversed Explorer" from Mysstery Guitars that Chester was photographe with during Dead By Sunrise rehearsals in 2009 actually has a model name, the NEXP.
-I swapped the order of the entries for Chester playing Mike's sunburst and silver PRS Singlecuts, as he actually used the sunburst one first (at the South American shows in October of 2010).
-I had the model of the Taylor acoustic Chester used for a one-off performance in 2011 completely wrong, it's actually an 814ce just like Brad's, just a newer model.
Lastly, I also added a small tribute to Chester at the top of the page...
In other news, there's some new stuff elsewhere on the site as well!
-Updated some information on the Les Paul Junior Brad used on A Thousand Suns.
-Added two new guitars to Mike's page: A Stingray bass that can be seen at his home studio on the Making of Meteora, and a Seagull acoustic guitar he "played" on the Good Mythical Morning appearance.
-Clarified that the white Strat Mike retired from touring use during the A Thousand Suns era actually was used for a few performances early in the tour.
-I felt like I was getting a little carried away/inconsistent with the "Special Features" line on some guitar entries, so I streamlined/deleted some (I removed that information in most instances of said features being standard on that guitar model).
-Updated misc. guitar info throughout all 3 of the main sections.
-This is kind of hilarious that it took me this long to realize this...but Brad's guitar tech who replaced Sean Paden in 2014 is actually NOT named Benjamin Chandler, that's just the name he uses on his Instagram account (Chandler is his middle name I guess...whoops). His name is actually Ben Young, and his name can be found in the "thank-you" section of numerous LP releases from the past few years. I've updated all instances of his name on the site to reflect this (sorry Ben! I bet you'd find it hilarious though, if you're even aware of this site).
-Lastly, I made another small change to my tab for Invisible. Nothing huge, just a couple notes that got added in one section.
The Misc. Guitars page is all I have left to convert to new photo hosting, and it's a pretty small section, so it shouldn't take long! However, I've already tracked down photos of several guitars that will be added to that section, so it'll still be exciting.
On a personal note, my daughter was born on December 21st! I know I had mentioned this at some point previously (you're probably more aware of it if you follow me on Twitter), but it came as a surprise, as she wasn't due until today (January 5th)! I'm happy to report that mom and baby are both doing very well though. This kind of affects my future plans with recording/tabbing though, as my wife is going to be on maternity leave/short-term disability until the middle of February, and she makes a lot more money at her job than I do at mine! To try to pick up the slack, I'm going to be working a TON of extra shifts the next few weeks, so I'm not going to have nearly as much time on my hands as I typically do. Once she goes back to work, I'm going to cut back to just working on the days she has off (daycare is ridiculously expensive, so we're going to try to always have at least one of us at home). Taking care of the baby will be my top priority while I'm home, of course, but I'm sure I'll find plenty of time to work on stuff as well, so I should only be putting off LP-related work for 5-6 weeks or so. I'll definitely at least get the next website update done in the meantime though!
